What Is Grand Canyon West?
Grand Canyon West is a tribal destination operated by the Hualapai Nation on the western edge of the Grand Canyon, approximately 125 miles east of Las Vegas. Unlike the South Rim National Park, Grand Canyon West is privately operated — which means you can do things here not possible at the park, including helicopter tours that land at the canyon floor and the iconic glass-bottom Skywalk suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River.
The Three Viewpoints
Eagle Point — The Skywalk
The glass horseshoe bridge extending 70 feet over the canyon rim at 4,000 feet. Personal cameras must be checked. Professional on-site photos available.
Guano Point — Panoramic Views
The highest point on the West Rim with unobstructed 360-degree canyon views. The best pure viewpoint on the West Rim.
Hualapai Ranch
A Western frontier village with live shows, Diamond Bar Grill dining, and the only overnight accommodation on the West Rim.
💡 Planning Tips
- • Book Skywalk tickets in advance — they sell out in spring and fall
- • Personal cameras are not permitted on the Skywalk itself
- • Shuttles between viewpoints are included — no driving between stops
- • Canyon floor helicopter access adds significant cost but is worth it
- • Pair with a Hoover Dam stop en route from Las Vegas
